Welcome to New York is a comedy film, in which Hero (Diljit Dosanjh), a sloppy recovery agent, and Jeenal Patel (Sonakshi Sinha), a fashion designer, become part of a big Bollywood event in New York – and chaos ensues.
‘Welcome To New York’, directed by: Chakri Toleti, stars Diljit Dosanjh, Karan Johar, Sonakshi Sinha, Boman Irani, Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh and Rana Daggubati. Film has been piquing fans’ interest ever since it was lunahced. The film centers around a popular award show held abroad. The movie is less roast than shallow-fry, comprising a handful of genuinely funny gags and insider jokes and two Karan Johars, one of whom wants to kill the director of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. The comedy between Teji (Diljit) and Jinal (Sonakshi) is less effective, and feels forced and stretched despite Teji’s charm and energy. It’s a fresh idea from Toleti but better execution would have turned it into an eminently enjoyable film. Film is neither Whacky nor Zany as it fails to bring the MADNESS as it says on its punchline.
‘Welcome To New York’ lacks the spark that we associate with quirky films. Give it complete Miss….
