Overall Review: Rudyard Kipling’s Mowgli returns to the wild in classic version “The Jungle Book,” but this time he’s got the latest in digital animation to bring his animal friends and enemies to vivid life. The film is a computer-generated remake of the 1967 animated film that was based on Rudyard Kipling’s book. The overall plot of the film stays very faithful to the original film with minor changes. Film is visually stunning and entirely engaging. Leafy green Jungle scenery, great vocal performances for the voice-overs of the cast members, some positive messages and themes about humans and animals, all combines to make The Jungle Book an adventure worth taking.
Performance & Technical Review: Bill Murray as Baloo was perfect, he was just as fun and entertaining to watch as his animated counterpart, and completely stole all scenes he was in. The bengal Tiger: Idris Elba as Shere Khan was menacing and was a real force to be reckoned with in this film. Ben Kingsly was also the best fit for Bagheera as he nailed the very wise and intelligent personality, and was just a really cool character. The first timer Neel Sethi is very impressive as Mowgli. The relationship of the Mowgli with other creatures is the heart of the story. Christopher Walken as King Louie was overall pretty good. Coupled with spot on voiceovers and life like animation, film takes the audience on a roller coaster ride while following the adventures of Mowgli. A lavish technological spectacle, Disney’s “The Jungle Book” pushes the capabilities of computer-generated imagery even further. A special mention goes to the technical team of the film, from the cinematographer Bill Pope, to the entire VFX team and editor Mark Livolsi. Director Jon Favreau with his technical team has managed to create a visual spectacular world of the jungle that sucks you into it right away & has left no stone unturned to make it humanly realistic movie.
PDF Verdict: THE JUNGLE BOOK is a shining example of classic Disney Picture. Movie knows how to scare, delight and thrill children, of all ages. Not taking your kids to see this would be an act of parental neglect. Strongly recommended film.
