Genre: Romance, Comedy, Drama
Duration: 170 minutes
India Release Date: 5th June 2015.
On a cruise to celebrate their parents’ 30th wedding anniversary, a brother and
sister deal with the impact of family considerations on their romantic lives.
Review: Skip this Royal Cruise tour as it does not deliver what it’s promised to.
The glossy sitcom is waste of time barring few dialogues & performances (Anushka,
Ranveer and Kapoor).
Overall: Zoya Akhtar’s film is too repeatative and this melodrama does not provide
any insights. Film is loaded with screams, extra-marital affairs, dominating control
on children etc etc. Loaded with ensemble cast, film delivers the heart attack rather heart beats (as the movie theme says). The only appreciation one can give is for the efforts director has put in to assemble Industry’s Biggies on same cruise. The real saviour in the movie (that let me sat for 170 odd minutes) were the performances and few dialogues.
Performances: On the cast, Anushka and Ranveer are the show stealer. Ranveer is the captain of the cruise and helps to Sail the Ship till the end. Anil kapoor is terrific as always. Priyanka Chopra is strictly OK; Not given much opportunity to prove her capability. Rahul bose fits perfect and justifies as Priyank’s second half. New Comer Ridhima Sud need to improve upon her skills and need a break again.
Technical Review: Music is big let-down. Seeing past record of Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar, an expectation from music was high but this time famous trio: Shankar – Ehsaan-Loy has disappointed the audience. Cinematography is strictly OK. Director fails to capture scenic beauty of the cruise and Istanbul. Film editing is worse and fails to control the pace of this SAGA of Love.
PDF Verdict: Ekta Kapoor’s sitcoms are more enjoyable than this cruise. If you are a fan of Anushka / Ranveer’s chemistry on screen, the trip will still hold you on board. Give this cruise a SKIP and save 170 minutes of complex family relationship.
