About the Series:
(ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI) EK THI BEGUM – A mobster revenge series directed by Sachin Darekar has Anuja Sathe in the lead role. Series set in the mid 80’s has rusty look that will remind viewers of 80’s masala films dealing with vengeance having – guns, corrupt policemen & politicians, hero, heroine, songs and last but not he least – villian. Somehow the director Sachin Darekar could not stir these masalas properly while preparing the overall dish leaving half tasty. Ek Thi Begum is quite predictable and move towards to boredom at the end of 14th episode (where revenge is finally taken). It could have been a well planned gangster drama but fails to deliver overall majorly due to its length.

Performance & Technical Review
Anuja Sathe’s performance aptly justifies the title of the web series. Her continuous switching roles showed absolute perfection in her acting skills. Other casting members also coupled well with Anuja’s performance. Major downfall of the series is with editing department (by Pragati Dhadke and Amit Kakade). They could have edited the series to fit under 9-10 episodes. Background scores from Amitraj and Sachin Darekar was apt that elevated the mood of gangster drama.

Overall Review
Sachin Dandekar’s Begum has its moments but mainly due to its length, reduces it to a plain average revenge affair. Add this to your list only for Anuja Sathe’s performance.

Word of Caution: To enjoy the best, watch the series in its original language: MARATHI
