Overall Review:
Disney has been doing a good job reviving their animated classics into live-action versions: with Cinderella in 2015 & The Jungle Book in 2016, with varying degree of success. Year 2017, Mouse House is back with another live-action adaptation of a beloved animated classic “Beauty And The Beast”, directed by Bill Condon. Disney’s 2017 live-action adaptation is nice twist for fans of the 1991 animated version. Visually the film is stunning. Amazing colors, costumes, the visual effects and sets are all very well done. It’s an artistic masterpiece. The same thing can be said about its breathtaking music. The soundtrack is simply perfect. The overall production values, ranging from the sets to costumes are all lavish while the upbeat rendition of “Be Our Guest” song during the dining sequence is particularly a showstopper. The cast really carry the movie as well, with Luke Evans (Gaston), Dan Stevens (the Beast), and Josh Gad (LeFou) entertaining throughout the film. Emma Watson plays Beauty (Belle) and executes her role perfectly. She is enchanting and has an outstanding singing voice too. All in all, this live action makes you believe that fairy tales can be real. It stays true to original and builds on it. It is much more layered and sophisticated. A well executed film that maintains the charm of original animated movie.

Performance & Technical Review:
All voice actors have done wonderful job. The acting is outstanding and decent to watch with the characters being likable and dramatic. Emma Watson’s Belle is enchanting and it turns out she has an outstanding singing voice. The supporting cast is enthralling especially Luke Evans as Gaston and Josh Gad as LeFou. Dan Steven’s brings the Beast to life and the story-line and progression of him and Belle is even better than the cartoon. Visually the film is stunning. Amazing colours, costumes, the visual effects and sets are all very well done. It’s an artistic masterpiece. The same thing can be said about its breathtaking music. The soundtrack is simply perfect. Director Bill Condon has included all the elements we expect and unsurprisingly, the scene when the three enchanted words ‘I Love You’ are uttered brings its own magic.

PDF Verdict:
Disney have cast their magic spell once again. A modern romantic fable with lavish visuals, dazzling magical effects, a wonderful melodies and wickedly entertaining performances makes this classic fairy tale “A WINNER”.
